Ordered a great book from Sarah Hyndman of TypeTasting – exploring how the choice of typeface can have a huge affect on what is communicated in design, almost subliminally. How each different typeface or font has a strong emotional connection, or personality that can affect the words you are reading, influencing your interpretation or association with it. It's a subject that fascinates me, but I've not come across a book that looks into it in such depth, and in such an interactive and engaging way.
These limited editions comes with a choice of cover. This one features the title in Gill Sans, apparently evoking the sound of a 'BBC English' accent. I wouldn't disagree with that… it certainly doesn't make me think of thrash metal, bargain basement deals, or sci-fi missions to Mars.
I can't wait to get stuck in and learn more about it… it even comes with 3D glasses, 'n everything! Here's to uncovering the real power of type.
