This week was final testing and prototype stage for a brand new Gluten Free Fruit & Brandy cake for Welsh Cottage Cakes. The new line has been developed over 6 months to get the recipe's taste and texture just right. In a change to their existing packaging format – a simple sticker-based label over the clear cellophane wrapper, the new pack design features a printed cardboard sleeve that the cake then sits within. This is designed to give the new Gluten Free cake range a more premium look and far greater on-shelf presence in store, both by covering the otherwise visible paper baking case, but also giving the packs a much larger area for branding, space to convey the pride and care that goes into making their cakes so authentic and tasty, as well as clearly displaying statutory, nutritional and ingredients info.
This packaging is also the first in the range to feature the new branding and visual identity that has been in development. Keep a look out for the wider roll-out of a new Welsh Cottage Cakes branding, including an updated and refined logo, marketing, PoS materials, and new website to be unveiled this month, to coincide with the new product launch into retailers.
